Spike?     Item 1A

Found in grassy area near mainland shore overlooking east end of Oak Island.  This spike if straightened out would be about 14" long and appears to have been about 1/2" thick. It is of a square shaft and the head (at left of pix.) is also square. The other end is of chisel tip design. Very heavily rusted. Can anyone offer any comments as to origin, date etc?
